A list of illegal housing societies in Rawalpindi has been issued notices by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA). Furthermore, the RDA has also advised the citizens against investing in such societies without checking their status on its official website. Such illegal housing societies are violating norms and legalities of the society act and encroaching upon public land and forests.

Over the last few years, illegal housing societies have cropped up in Rawalpindi without fear of the law. There are several hundred such places.

According to a recent report, 264 illegal housing societies are currently operating in the area supervised by the RDA. Although these organizations have recognized, no legal action has taken against them yet.

An RDA spokesperson confirmed that they initiated legal action against illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi by issuing legal notices to the following societies.
