Much-Awaited Bhara Kahu bypass Opened to Traffic
The much-needed Bhara Kahu bypass road was opened to public traffic on Thursday, 3rd August 2023 in an inauguration ceremony led by former Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif.
The Bhara Kahu bypass road was a project of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) with a worth of Rs.6.5 billion has been completed in a short time of almost 10 months.
This commuting project has beautiful horticultural work alongside the road with 74 000 trees encircling the project with a future goal of one Million tree sapling plantation.
The Bhara Kahu bypass road is a 5.2 km (3.2 Miles) four-lane highway connecting Islamabad with Bhara Kahu, Murree, Galyat, and Kashmir without passing through congested Bhara Kahu Town.
The bypass road took its start at Mirpur, Islamabad, and ended at Satra Meet on Murree Road. It comprises of two bridges, four underpasses, one interchange, and seven culverts.
Why Bhara Kahu Bypass was important?
- The old Murree Road has always been overburdened with heavily congested traffic especially during the peak of tourist season.
- The slimness of road along with substantial encroachments were turned this road a difficult place to pass through.
- The bypass will be an alternative avenue to Murree, Kashmir, and Galiyat overtaking the full of traffic Bhara Kahu Town.
